A Brief History

Sweetwater Productions began as a recording studio in the late 1970's with Chuck Surack as founder and engineer. Chuck did recordings on a 4-track reel-to-reel deck out of his home or out of his VW bus. As word spread of Chuck's abilities, the studio grew to a full time venture around 1983 with the studio formerly located on Getz Road.

Chuck's studio grew quickly to 8-tracks, 16-tracks, and 24-tracks and he began to add other staff members and in 1987, Sweetwater built a brand new studio on Bass Road. During this time, Chuck also began to see the need for a place to buy recording equipment where the customer could ask questions and get knowledgeable answers at a reasonable price. That's how Sweetwater's retail division started. Our retail division has now grown to become a world leader in music technology and recording equipment.

With the studio and retail divisions outgrowing the facilities quickly, Sweetwater built a new building on Bass Road and then added on to that building several times in just a few short years. Sweetwater has grown to a world-class production facility and retail center, employing a staff of 500+ in a LEED Platinum Certified 180,000-square-foot building!

Today, Sweetwater's 3 comfortable, extremely well-equipped studios are ready to enhance your creativity on your next project. Each studio is equipped with Avid's ProTools|HDX digital recording and editing systems and much more!
